Our feelings and emotions are temporary. We move back and forth between different mood states. It is okay to have bad feelings but if they stick around too long, we can learn to make an attitude adjustment.
Things to Ask Myself When I am Upset:
- Would you check on your attitude right now?
- Could you help yourself feel better?
- Do I need to make an attitude adjustment?
Helper Words:
- I am responsible for my own feelings.
- I own my feelings, my feelings do not own me
- I can feel good about adjusting my attitude.
- It is up to me to decide how I want to be.
- Feelings come, feelings go. I can let my grumpiness go!
